Just finished watching our town's Christmas parade on TV, if it hadn't have been for the 42 pageant winners our parade would have been over in 15 minutes. I mean there were so many Queen this or Princess that...it was kind of sad how much importance that was placed on beauty.
Guess they were getting them ready for the real world where beauty gets you in the door long before talent, skill, or achievements.
Who's the hardest person to shop for on your holiday list?
That's is a hard question...probably my Dad as it is always hard to know what he really wants. Of course the answer to that problem is a gift card to Lowe's.
In fact for the lazy...gift cards are a dream come true.
2. Samsung DVD-HD960 Up-Converting DVD Player
3. TiVo TCD648250B Series3 HD Digital Media Recorder
I chose the Samsung because DLP is a good technology even with bulb replacements every two or three years...it's like getting a new tv for a small price. Plus for the price of a rear projection DLP you can't beat it with a large screen LCD or Plasma.
Blu-Ray or HD-DVD...not even the experts can pick a winner here. So I don't want to be caught with a "Beta VCR" and have to purchase something else next year...so the immediate answer is a up converting DVD player.
Last is the TiVo...the series 3 is a beautiful machine. It has a 250 gb drive and can record up to 25 hours of HD. I was using a Moxi box from Charter. But it doesn't do nearly as good a job at recording SD as the Tivo and the Moxi only has a 80 gb HD. On top of that I did have a series 2 tivo with lifetime subscription so I transferred that to the series 3 and now I have no monthly fees.
The only additional fees is for the two cable cards for the tivo and that is only an extra 1.50 per card/month.
I'll post some pictures when I get it setup.
I bet you all could guess what I did today. That is right, went shopping, and it seems that everyone else in the world was out as well. The stores were crowded, the cash registers were ringing, and the parking lots were full. They are going to have to change the song "Silver Bells", to "Cash Register Bells." And what is all this for, it is a play on our emotions to make us think that if we do not buy something for everybody that we know, we are a miser that does not want to give. But as Christmas grows nearer, I am reminded of what the Christ child came to show us. He was a gift of God's Love. He was the tangible effect of a father that loves us. This Christmas, I wish that every gift that I give were a tangible effect of my love, and not a trinket that I bought so that I could mark someones name of my list. May we all do our best to get back to the Reason for the Season
I am new to the Blog world. However, I thought that it might be a good creative outlet as well as a place to send family and friends to keep up with everything that is happening im my family. Just as a brief description of myself. I am a 27 year old white male with a beautiful wife and three gorgeous children. My wife's name is Christina, and my kids are Andrew (3 will be 4 in January), Blake (Turned 2 in July), and Anna (will be one in January). As you can probably tell. I am very busy with kids. But I hope to be able to take the time to post to this blog.
Just finished watching Koppel in Iran. If you have Discovery HD it really looks great.
Anyway, it's a very good look into the culture of the country and the diverse makeup of people.
It was interesting to see the difference in cities and how easy it is to broadly brush a country as evil, but see that for many of it's population, they are just trying to survive another day and could care less about the politics.
But for the ppl who do care about the government...those ppl are scary and unfortunately it will be smart for the USA to continue to monitor them very closely.
But not with console game systems. Yes the PS3 is coming out today, but what did I get from amazon today?
A xbox 360...not even my wife knows about it...until now. Yes honey we are proud parents of a xbox 360 and I'm out right now trying to find some games for it.
You see I sold my PSP and with that money I got a super good deal from some connections and now we get to experience a xbox.
One of the games I am going to purchase is Gears of War, but I won't play it until we get our new 61" Samsung HL-S6187W DLP tv.
So for those reading this, what games should I get? or which ones should I avoid.
Doug, you need to get one now so we can tagteam on Gears of War.
